Besides interrogative pronouns, there is a way to ask if the answer you are looking for is a simple \"yes\" or \"no.\" We are talking about questions with \u4e0d (b\u00f9) and \u6ca1 (m\u00e9i).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"tw-target-text\">In this post, we'll talk about a way to ask these questions, that can also be called \"affirmative-negative\" questions. Why? Because they consist of an afirmative statement while at the same time denying it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tw-target-text\">Questions with \u4e0d (b\u00f9) and \u6ca1 (m\u00e9i)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"tw-target-text\">These questions are formed by duplicating the verb and including <strong>an adverb of negation,<\/strong> which can be \u4e0d (b\u00f9) for present or future situations, or \u6ca1 (m\u00e9i) for the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-answer\">How to answer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"tw-target-text\">As it happens with questions formed with the particle \u5417 (ma), these \"affirmative-negative\" questions are answered with the same verb or adjective as the question itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Do you want to go to China?<\/td><td>\u4f60\u8981\u4e0d\u8981\u53bb\u4e2d\u56fd?<\/td><td>N\u01d0 y\u00e0o b\u00fa y\u00e0o q\u00f9 Zh\u014dnggu\u00f3?<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I don't wanna go.<\/td><td>\u6211\u4e0d\u8981\u53bb\u3002<\/td><td>W\u01d2 b\u00fa y\u00e0o q\u00f9.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Do you have a car?<\/td><td>\u4f60\u6709\u6ca1\u6709\u8f66?<\/td><td>N\u01d0 y\u01d2u m\u00e9i y\u01d2u ch\u0113?<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Yes, I have<\/td><td>\u6709\u3002<\/td><td>Y\u01d2u.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Are you cold?<\/td><td>\u4f60\u51b7\u4e0d\u51b7?<\/td><td>N\u01d0 l\u011bng b\u00fa l\u011bng?<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>No, I'm not.<\/td><td>\u6211\u4e0d\u51b7\u3002<\/td><td>W\u01d2 b\u00fa l\u011bng.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adverbs-of-negation\">Adverbs of negation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The adverbs of negation are placed <em>before the verb<\/em> and, as mentioned above, we use <strong>\u4e0d (b\u00f9) to deny the present and future tenses<\/strong> and <strong>\u6ca1 (m\u00e9i) to deny the past <\/strong>(\u4e86 [le] is not used).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Mom <strong>is not<\/strong> at home.<\/td><td>\u5988\u5988<strong>\u4e0d\u5728<\/strong>\u5bb6\u3002<\/td><td>M\u0101m\u0101 b\u00fa z\u00e0i ji\u0101.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>I won't<\/strong> watch the movie.<\/td><td>\u6211<strong>\u4e0d\u4f1a<\/strong>\u770b\u7535\u5f71\u3002<\/td><td>W\u01d2 b\u00fa hu\u00ec k\u00e0n di\u00e0ny\u01d0ng.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>My father <strong>hasn't tried<\/strong> Chinese food.<\/td><td>\u6211\u7238\u7238<strong>\u6ca1\u6709\u5403<\/strong>\u8fc7\u4e2d\u56fd\u83dc\u3002<\/td><td>W\u01d2 b\u00e0ba m\u00e9iy\u01d2u ch\u012bgu\u00f2 Zh\u014dnggu\u00f3 c\u00e0i.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>He <strong>didn't go<\/strong> to school today.<\/td><td>\u4ed6\u4eca\u5929<strong>\u6ca1\u53bb<\/strong>\u5b66\u6821\u3002<\/td><td>T\u0101 j\u012bnti\u0101n m\u00e9i q\u00f9 xu\u00e9xi\u00e0o<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"tw-target-text\">Isn't it easy?
