The names of animal in Chinese (\u52a8\u7269 [d\u00f2ngw\u00f9]) are one of the first things that Chinese students learn. So, here we go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The very Chinese word for \"animal\", \u52a8\u7269 (d\u00f2ngw\u00f9), is very interesting. It is made up of two characters. The first, \u52a8 (d\u00f2ng), means \"to move\". And the second, \u7269 (w\u00f9), means \"thing \/ object\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, according to the literal meaning, that thing (or little thing) that moves, that is an animal. Nice, huh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
